Joe, It's time for you to nurture your paternal side ...and to heal the hurt to an now old man's childhood sized wound. I.... have never had a Transformers "Optimus Prime" G1 toy. Not in from their heady toy heydays ...to even now from the mega-movie spectaculars. Optimus Prime even died on me before I could get a hold of him. Do you know how devastated I was when he died in "The Transformers, the movie"? back in the 80's!? Trauma, Joe. Sheeeeer Traaau-ma. Here's how you can help start the healing process. It's from our favorite slow site,....Cults3D.com: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/articulated-g1-optimus-prime-no-supportHow big is your heart, Joe?! How much taller/ bigger could you make it beyond its initial 7 inch so height ...and still be poseable as it demonstrates to being?? xx, FM p.s. You might also want to do what I just did,..which was watch the YT vid assembly, scroll through the still images some more and scroll down that same page. Reveals a lot ..."more than meets the eye" initially. STOP THE SYRUPY EMOTIONAL STUFF. I just visited Toymakr3D,.... -aahhhhh! www.toymakr3d.com/product/66-tetsujin-28-1980-verI ALSO REQUEST YOU GO DOWNLOAD THIS FREEBIE BEFORE SOMETHING WICKED BEFALLS US! PLEASE!! Joe, I must have this above. And if I find his "original father" too... there's going to be a massive head spinning, number crunching, plastic gooey times ahead. "Oh,...just finish the Rocy."

Joe,
Are you still eating your Captain Crunchy cereal? Haven't you downloaded "Tetsujin 28 go" yet? I'll explain: We first knew him here in the States as "Gigantor" after American tv producer Fred Ladd renamed him from Mitsuteru Yokohama's original manga giant robot hero "Tetsujin (number/ "go") 28".. ("Ironman 28") "Gigantor" was a big childhood hero of mine. And in 1980 the Japanese anime industry/ and M. Yokohama updated his appearance and adventures. Which is what, hopefully, you've downloaded by now while munching that breakfast bar. I'm wanting to make this a special rescaling project... to 3 feet in height.
"Yes, ...I am crazy."
That's what I want you to coordinate to create. I'm even willing to flip the bill upon the special or extra amount of filament this scale of project would take. Finish your breakfast, first. And don't spill milk onto your keyboard.
There's actually a plan in my mad mind. Let me share it with you,..... "Your thoughts to my thoughts, our minds are merging. Our minds ...are one." -Finish Rocy (..and pay you). -Buy plans of ...and you make me W1K1 next, pay you. Forget Optimus Prime now!! (Yes I know my emotions are fickle.)..although OP is a good testbed for this newer plastic you may be using upon Tetsujin 28 !?? So...... -Buy ST3 Tricorder plans, but..... DO NOT MAKE FOR ME now, not yet. -Me save $ for Tetsujin 28, while you figure it out and (hopefully can) create it. Pay you for this. -Then..... "back to anything upon the table".
xx, FM

Joe, What is occurring and said in this particular thread is what we'll be going forth by from this point now. I have lots of items I'd like made but those are mostly future plans that'll have to put upon a back burner til such ability, time and finances allow. Having some difficulties at times with "Safari" browser connecting to your site here, specifically. Don't know why, I have to investigate further. Look,... how do I send a "download" of files to you?? I downloaded "TETSUJIN 28". With stuff like this, of 82 MB in size, not even Yahoo email has enough size to send to you. What do you recommend?? I have a Gmail account, which I'm hardly at. If you haven't gotten it yet cause of legal reasons, (which you obey like you're under programming to do so) ...then I'll need to send it to you for you to have a "legal loophole" escape, right? Name a method. As I tried just now with Gmail...it doesn't upload as a zip folder but as individual files. I know there's a way to do this stuff. Gotta think. Respond when not busy. xx, FM

Joe,
Have sent you an Gmail containing link to my Google Drive and where zip folder of Tetsujin 28 model files are being kept. PLEASE,..DO NOT DELETE OR DISMISS AS JUNK MAIL. Coming from address of: "mcon28b@gmail.com". Tell me if this works well with you, ...then will continue practice for future project needs.

Joe,
"YYEEEEEESSSS!!" (WITH FIST PUMPING INTO ETHER)
Did you know I wanted to rescale this model bigger than it was intended? To up to 3 feet standing!!!
Now, now Joe,...... just think "happy thoughts" at this point. Tell me upon the viability of that ..and whether we ought to use "Optimus Prime" as a testbed figure first at its intended scale recreation. Might as well create something I would want from you than a dupe of same thing, is my thought upon this. Aren't these giant robot poseable figures from Toymakr3D using a totally different kind of PLA filament material than you're use to? It looks like it from the photos of all of them.

I've looked at the requirements the author described. It is not a special kind of PLA.
Scaling can be done, but going from 6 inches to 3 feet tall may pose interesting problems not foreseen yet.

Joe,
Wouldn't scaling it all up just geometrically increase the wall thickness? Which would then have to be corrected for both size scale, part/ article formation and weight necessities? Or are such things beyond your technical practice?,...beyond your knowledge to alter or create new files from original??
Yeah, I have slight intention towards pushing your potential. Give you engineering issues to ponder.

Generally, scaling up sometimes creates unwanted effects, it mainly boils down to how much detail, or resolution if you will that the model has. 3D models are almost all created by using polygon triangles, the more triangles you use to generate say, a curved surface dictates how smooth that surface will look when printed. If the polygon count (resolution) is low, as you scale up these triangles also become bigger and more noticeable.

Joe,
Would you see it upon your preview screen whether the resolution was degrading seeing such polygonal shapes? Or is that only when you physically print out a part?

Like I said, it has more to do with the artist who created the model.. If that person created something to be 2 inches high, they probably weren't thinking about if someone was going to scale it up 5000 percent or not.

Joe,
So you don't know about how Tetsujin would print up at that scale. Are we talking 5000% to the size I'm wanting?
Well, okay he's my novice solution,.... print up Tetsujin's head module only, ....or of what of it ..is it's major piece, at the target scale size. Oh,.....I just remembered. 17 jobs running ...and no blue colored PLA to spare for experimentation purposes.
