I spent some time Googling imagery of a TNG era tricorder and found that there are differing types and designs. Really the differences are in the "sensor lights" details, and of the interface control panel surfaces. I acquired what was a "faint" resemblance of a model "TR-560, Tricorder VI", as a 3D replica prop.
My 3D print replica prop was missing ..the viewing screen frame, .. a concave area to house a roll control dial, plus some painting details upon the main body, on the auxiliary sensor head and on the tubular hand held sensor that is housed atop. The control interface was represented by a 2d gum backed sticker. The sticker didn't give the model much life being also faded of any brilliant color. A copy machine color print it was. So I resolved to rework the prop's details and to add my own. First thinking to get a new sticker from the seller cause the gum had weakened and the sticker curled up. He made the offer to send me a replacement ...and has yet to make good on it. Also then made a small stint search to try finding a model seller who printed up "vinyl stickers" to replicate what I had. When that fell through I started seeking my own artwork source of the control interface ...and then my discovery of differing models of TNG era tricorders.
Remember the Playmates toy, of lights and sounds? That's marked as the above aforementioned, but as marked only as a "TR 560" Its reproduction as a toy was very accurate to set prop. Its more of designation and color schemes that really change up. The tricorders from ST: Voyager are modeled physically different. So ..between artwork of (..and from possibly 3D modelers' invention) seen in science fiction magazines, or from ST production art book publishers of the time.. your TNG era tricorder may differ in the details.
Markings thus seen:
TR 560 (Playmates toy)
TR 560 Tricorder VI
TR 580 Tricorder V5 (as seen in artwork print)
TR 580 Tricorder VII
TR 590 Tricorder IX
TR 590 Tricorder X
TRV Tricorder V? (partial view of a Voyager trike)
