Ever since 2009's "Star Trek" film..... from the reboot onwards has not all felt truly as what we're familiar with of.... Star Trek. Perhaps its the new producers, the latest writers,..the never seen, rarely heard from pre-production staffers that physically create our dreams.
Or can it be really....that the medium its presented upon from has changed the nature of melodrama!? You know how you said," They don't make them like that anymore." "They don't make them like they use to." There's "Discovery", "Strange New Worlds", "Prodigy", "Lower Decks" and "Picard". How much of that do I watch? None. Why? Well, ..there is this "qualitative difference".... of the production from then to today!
As well as the medium its presented from upon. Aside from a theatrical feature, which I might go to see, yet not likely after the last ... but of what is happening now ...is to milk you. In my view, by alot worse than of the 60's with the advent of color television then. For me, the corporate oversight ...just malingers off of everything. It's no longer the show crafted by "future minded hopefuls", but just "contractually cobbled" together.

In my view, by alot worse than of the 60's with the advent of color television then. For me, the corporate oversight ...just malingers off of everything. It's no longer the show crafted by "future minded hopefuls", but just "contractually cobbled" together. The biggest difference I've found between the "old" trek and the "new" trek is the focus which is used to tell the intended story. I watch all trek, new and old. But it's the focus and intent that has changed in my opinion. Let's move back to TOS, TNG, Voyager, DS9, and Enterprise. (The Pentateuch of Star Trek in my opinion). These shows were first and foremost trying to tell a Science Fiction story, a story about the future, with new technology to dazzle us and a hopeful message that violence is the answer to an exhausted question and was inherently a failure if needed. There were messages about social inequality, social commentary, relationships, and lessons to be learned. But this was always running secondary to the main message of science fiction. Then we move to Discovery. This show reverses the original trend, where now the main story arcs revolve around social justice, relationships, emoption, and social commentary. Science fiction, and everything else often took a back seat to these agendas which is why I think a lot of the older viewers did not take to the new show. Before, what was subtle, was now loud and the main focus. And it made the "older" trekkies uncomfortable. The Kelvin timeline movies: As with discovery, now action and adventure took front stage. Leaving storytelling, and mostly science fiction behind. there was nothing to dazzle our curiosity and hope, just old west gunfights in space. The main story plot in all of the Kelvin movies is revenge, one of the ugliest human emotions. Picard: This series it seems to me, was working hard to try and reverse the course of the kelvin movies. While you still had mainly action and adventure, the producers seemed to be trying to steer the series back to a message of hope and family. Strange new worlds continues this trend, feeling like a full circle back to the TOS, TNG era. Where messages of social commentary and justice are present but subtle. And where the main goal is to become the best version of oneself.

Joe, The real truth behind "Nu Trek". In my view, ...it's nothing to do really with making "StarTrek" ..but with how money couldn't be made from this new "legalized" outlet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7OvDbBU7eQ&list=LL&index=11"An alternate ST copyright contract" explains it all since 2009. FM

FM Wow.. That is a very interesting video, and explains why viacom has been on a rampage lately with IP infringement takedowns.
